Safe data disposal
Anyone disposing of computers needs to be sure they have chosen a method that isn’t going to result in sensitive information getting into the wrong hands.
Loss of data can have serious consequences for individuals and organisations alike, and failure to protect data can result in action being taken against you by the Information Commissioner.
Reputations can be ruined by poor data security. This is why REI members follow disposal procedures that ensure your data is properly destroyed.
REI members guarantee that all aspects of your data are properly dealt with, either through the electronic cleansing of hard drives or through the use of specialised data sanitising software.
On network equipment, if required, our centres will undertake a full factory reset to ensure donor confidentiality.
REI’s minimum standards for ICT data destruction and disposal rank among the highest in the world.
REI members’ methods of data destruction are compliant with DoD 5220.22-S specifications (for Classified Data). If required, even more rigorous processes can be carried out, which means in certain situations hard disks may be shredded.
All data on all media is totally
eradicated.
Audit Trails
REI Customers have the peace of mind of knowing that the equipment they
have sent for disposal, or have purchased from an REI member, is completely
traceable. All electronic equipment handled by the REI members is individually
logged.
